The unemployment rate in the U.S. also dropped unexpectedly to 8.5% from 8.6% in November.<\/p>\n<p><!--mfunc adshow_display_ad_file_v2(array('ad_random_1.txt'), array(100), array('align' => 'float right', 'clear' => '', 'margin_top' => '', 'margin_bottom' => '', 'padding_top' => '', 'padding_bottom' => ''), array(), array()) --><\/p>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - in News 300 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"5684630733\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p>The stronger than expected jobs report, however, has failed to lift investors\u2019 sentiment, which has been weighed down by worries about the euro zone debt crisis and the region\u2019s banks.<\/p>\n<p>At last check, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> was trading 0.38% lower at 12,368.78, the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/sp500\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"snp500 today\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> was trading 0.14% lower at 1,279.26, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nasdaq\/today.aspx\">Nasdaq<\/a> was trading 0.32% higher at 2,678.24.<\/p>\n<p>Consumer Non-Cyclical stocks are leading the losses in the S&amp;P 500 in late trading. At last check, Consumer Non-Cyclical stocks were trading 0.95% lower. Utilities are also down sharply in late trading. At last check, Utilities were trading 0.68% lower. Basic Materials stocks are currently trading 0.45% lower, while Energy stocks are currently trading 0.50% lower. Technology stocks have been the best performers in the S&amp;P 500 in trading today. At last check, Technology stocks were trading 0.25% higher.<\/p>\n<p>Among the major gainers and losers in late trading today are Dendreon Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=DNDN\">NASDAQ: DNDN<\/a>), which is currently trading 12.81% higher at $11.98, RF Micro Devices Inc. (NASDSQ: RFMD), which is currently trading 19.33% lower at $4.55, and Netflix Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=NFLX\">NASDAQ: NFLX<\/a>), which is currently trading 7.97% higher at $85.62.<\/p>\n<p>European markets ended on a mixed note in trading today as investors remained cautious ahead of the crucial Spanish and Italian bond auctions next week.
