Gold <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/commodities\/today.aspx\">futures<\/a> for delivery on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange are down 1.03% to $1,710.30 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>Wang Tau, market analyst for Reuters, today said that technical signals remained bearish for gold in the near term and <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">spot gold<\/a> could fall toward $1,701 an ounce during the day.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/pre-market\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Premarket Movers\">pre-market trading<\/a> in New York, the SPDR Gold Trust (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=GLD\">NYSE: GLD<\/a>) is down 1.11% to $166.22, the Market Vectors ETF Trust (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=GDX\">NYSE: GDX<\/a>) is down 1.42% to $52.80, and the iShares Gold Trust (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nyse\/today.aspx\">NYSE<\/a>: IAU) is down 1.07% to $16.89.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">Silver prices<\/a> are also down sharply today.
