(<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=CPIX\">NASDAQ: CPIX<\/a>)<\/strong>, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on hospital acute care and gastroenterology, today announced 2011 annual financial results.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Net Revenue: \u00a0<\/strong>For the year ended December 31, 2011, net revenue increased to $51.1 million, up 11.5% compared with $45.9 million for 2010.<\/p>\n<p>For the three months ended December 31, 2011, net revenue was $13.0 million, up from $12.8 million in the prior year period.<\/p>\n<p><!--mfunc adshow_display_ad_file_v2(array('ad_random_1.txt'), array(100), array('align' => 'float right', 'clear' => '', 'margin_top' => '', 'margin_bottom' => '', 'padding_top' => '', 'padding_bottom' => ''), array(), array()) --><\/p>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - in News 300 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"5684630733\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Operating Expenses:<\/strong> \u00a0For the year ended December 31, 2011, total operating expenses were approximately $41.3 million, compared with $39.4 million for 2010. The difference was primarily a result of increased cost of products sold, research and development and general and administrative expenses, partially offset by lower selling and marketing expenses.<\/p>\n<p>Total operating expenses for the three months ended December 31, 2011 were $11.3 million compared to $10.6 million the prior year period. Increases in cost of products sold, research and development expenses and general and administrative expenses were partially offset by a decrease in selling and marketing expenses compared to the prior year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Net Income:<\/strong> \u00a0Net income attributable to common shareholders for the year ended December 31, 2011 increased more than 130% to $5.7 million, or $0.28 per diluted share, compared to $2.5 million, or $0.12 per diluted share, for 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Net income attributable to common shareholders for the three months ended December 31, 2011, was $0.9 million, or $0.04 per diluted share, similar to the same period in 2010.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Balance Sheet:<\/strong> \u00a0As of December 31, 2011, Cumberland had $70.6 million in cash and cash equivalents, compared to $65.9 million at the end of 2010. Total assets at December 31, 2011, were $95.5 million compared to $92.1 million in 2010. At December 31, 2011, Cumberland had total debt of $4.9 million, down from $7.2 million at the end of 2010. Shareholders&#8217; equity increased to $82.8 million at the end of 2011 from $77.7 million for the prior period.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are pleased to have delivered strong revenue and earnings growth and to have achieved our revenue guidance during 2011,&#8221; said A.J.
