However, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/sp500\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"snp500 today\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> posted their worst weekly performance of the year so far.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-23374\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Stocks remained under pressure throughout the week as concerns about a slowdown in China, the world\u2019s fastest growing major economy weighed down investors\u2019 sentiment.<\/p>\n<p><!--Ad Injection mfunc mode ad code--><!--mfunc adshow_display_ad_file_v2(array('ad_random_1.txt'), array(100), array('align' => 'float right', 'clear' => '', 'margin_top' => '', 'margin_bottom' => '', 'padding_top' => '', 'padding_bottom' => ''), array(), array()) --><\/p>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - in News 300 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"5684630733\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> ended 0.27% higher at 13,080.73, the S&amp;P 500 ended 0.31% higher at 1,397.11, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nasdaq\/today.aspx\">Nasdaq<\/a> ended 0.15% higher at 3,067.92.<\/p>\n<p>For the week, the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Dow Jones Today\">Dow Jones<\/a> fell 1.15%, the S&amp;P 500 fell 0.5%, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nasdaq\/today.aspx\">Nasdaq<\/a> rose 0.41%.<\/p>\n<p>Basic Materials and Energy stocks led the gains in the S&amp;P 500 on Friday. Basic Materials stocks ended the day 0.94% higher, while Energy stocks ended the day 0.90% higher. Industrials ended the day 0.57% higher. Financials ended the day 0.76% higher. Consumer Cyclical stocks were the worst performers in the S&amp;P 500 on Friday, ending the day 0.36% lower. Conglomerates ended the day 0.16% lower.<\/p>\n<p>Among the major gainers and losers on Friday were McEwen Mining Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=MUX\">NYSE: MUX<\/a>), which ended the day 10.16% higher at $4.12, Weight Watchers International Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=WTW\">NYSE: WTW<\/a>), which ended the day 3.85% lower at $78.84, Esterline Technologies Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=ESL\">NYSE: ESL<\/a>), which ended the day 10.15% higher at $75.20, Micron Technology Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=MU\">NASDAQ: MU<\/a>), which ended the day 3.56% lower at $8.40, SandRidge Energy Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=SD\">NYSE: SD<\/a>), which ended the day 8.65% higher at $8.29, Nike Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nyse\/today.aspx\">NYSE<\/a>: NKE), which ended the day 3.22% lower at $107.42, and Monster Worldwide Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nyse\/today.aspx\">NYSE<\/a>: MWW), which ended the day 7.69% higher at $10.22.<\/p>\n<p>European markets ended on a mixed note on Friday, with the EURO STOXX 50 Index closing 0.19% lower, and the FTSE 100 Index closing 0.16% higher.
