Investors fear that a debt crisis in the euro-zone is resurfacing with Spain in the spotlight this time as country\u2019s yields went above 6% last week. However, with global economic uncertainty rising, the appeal of <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">gold<\/a> as a safe haven instrument could push up the metal\u2019s price. Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">silver prices<\/a> are flat.<\/p>\n<p>The market sentiment in the euro-zone was subdued right from the start as Spain prepares to auction its governments <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/bonds\/today.aspx\">bonds<\/a> later in the day. It is feared that Spain will see its borrowing cost leap on its short term <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/bonds\/today.aspx\">bonds<\/a> as the country grapples with high fiscal deficit, above 20% unemployment rate and struggling banking sector.<\/p>\n<p>Now, there\u2019s widespread uncertainty concerning the global economic prospects. Last week China disappointed with its GDP data for the first quarter even as U.S. non-farm jobs data raised the question mark on the economic recovery.\u00a0 Accordingly, analysts feel that <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">gold<\/a>\u2019s safe heaven appeal may attract more investors as dark clouds continue to loom over the euro-zone and global economy.<\/p>\n<p><!--Ad Injection mfunc mode ad code--><!--mfunc adshow_display_ad_file_v2(array('ad_random_1.txt'), array(100), array('align' => 'float right', 'clear' => '', 'margin_top' => '', 'margin_bottom' => '', 'padding_top' => '', 'padding_bottom' => ''), array(), array()) --><\/p>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - in News 300 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"5684630733\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p>According to Ed Meir, an analyst at INTL FCStone, \u201cWe expect that if European credit conditions continue to deteriorate, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">gold<\/a> (along with the dollar) could start to better reflect the growing tensions by moving higher on its steam\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>While Spot\u00a0edged slid 0.1 percent to $1,649.70 an ounce by 0312 GMT, extending the price decline to a third straight session.\u00a0U.S. gold\u00a0remained flat at $1,650.80.<\/p>\n<p>Technical analysts like Reuters Wan Tao feels that <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">spot gold<\/a> could fall to $1,630 an ounce during the day. But on the other hand, Lynette Tan, an analyst at Phillip <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/commodities\/today.aspx\">Futures<\/a> in Singapore believes that<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;People may buy into the dollar as a safe haven, which causes some kind of neutral trade in gold\u201d.
