(<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AAPL\">NASDAQ: AAPL<\/a>) is expected to announce its earnings after the evening bell ring.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-25452\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At last check, <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/commodities\/today.aspx\">futures<\/a> on the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> Industrial Average\u00a0added 35 points, or 0.3%, to 12,906.<\/p>\n<p><!--Ad Injection mfunc mode ad code--><!--mfunc adshow_display_ad_file_v2(array('ad_random_1.txt'), array(100), array('align' => 'float right', 'clear' => '', 'margin_top' => '', 'margin_bottom' => '', 'padding_top' => '', 'padding_bottom' => ''), array(), array()) --><\/p>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - in News 300 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"5684630733\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/sp500\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"snp500 today\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> Index futures\u00a0also gained 4.1 points, or 0.3%, to 1,366.802, while <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nasdaq\/today.aspx\">Nasdaq<\/a> 100 futures\u00a0climbed up10.50 points, or 0.4% to 2,660.75.<\/p>\n<p>Investors will be closely focused on Federal Reserve\u2019s open market committee meeting, slated to start in the evening. The meeting, which will last for two days, is expected to provide some hint on Fed\u2019s monetary policy. The Fed has adopted wait and watch policy; and its tone has been less dovish with regard to another round of quantitative easing measures since February. \u00a0As a result, investors have struggled to find a direction for investing in an uncertain global economic environment.<\/p>\n<p>In an emailed comments, Fawad Razaqzada, market strategist at GFT Markets, wrote\u00a0 \u201cWhile recent U.S. economic data has weakened significantly, it is not currently bad enough to warrant the announcement of further quantitative easing; However, with so much uncertainty surrounding the euro zone, and with U.S. employment and housing both on shaky ground, the FOMC is likely to leave the door open to some form of stimulus program. If they don\u2019t, we can expect further stock market weakness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moving onto U.S. economic data front, at 9 a.m. Eastern, Case-Shiller home prices for February is expected to be released. At 10 a.m. Eastern, the consumer confidence index for April and new home sales for March is slated for a release.<\/p>\n<p>Stocks that are likely to trade actively on Tuesday are Netflix Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nasdaq\/today.aspx\">NASDAQ<\/a>: NFLX) and Big Lots Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=BIG\">NYSE: BIG<\/a>). Shares of Big Lots plunged 14% in after-hours trade on Monday after the discount retailer warned that company expects its first quarter same- stores sales to decline.
