Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">silver prices<\/a> have edged lower in mid-day trading.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-25633\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Earlier, thanks to better than expected corporate earnings and de-escalation of sovereign debt crises, the risk appetite among investors jacked up, pushing up the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">gold prices<\/a> as well. However, today the movement in the bullion market is muted right from the start.<\/p>\n<p><!--Ad Injection mfunc mode ad code--><!--mfunc adshow_display_ad_file_v2(array('ad_random_1.txt'), array(100), array('align' => 'float right', 'clear' => '', 'margin_top' => '', 'margin_bottom' => '', 'padding_top' => '', 'padding_bottom' => ''), array(), array()) --><\/p>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - in News 300 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"5684630733\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">Spot gold<\/a>\u00a0was trading marginally lower at 0.2 percent at $1,637.90,\u00a0U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">gold<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/commodities\/today.aspx\">futures<\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>for June delivery also edged lower $5.30 an ounce at $1,638.50.<\/p>\n<p>Although the Federal Reserve is likely to keep the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/bonds\/today.aspx\">interest rates<\/a> at record low levels, market participants will be more interested to hear Ben Bernanke\u2019s addressing the news conference post FOMC. It is expected that policy statement will provide further clues on whether the fed will go for another round of quantitative easing or not.<\/p>\n<p>In February, <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">gold<\/a> touched $1,790 an ounce level as expectations of monetary easing pushed up the metal\u2019s prices; however, with no bond buying signals from the fed, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">gold<\/a> retreated in March and April, hovering around between $1,610 and $1640 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>According to BNP Paribas analyst Anne-Laure Tremblay, \u201cThe\u00a0Federal Open Market Committee\u00a0announcement could be the trigger that takes gold away from its trading range\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting over possible monetary easing and its impact on gold\u2019s prices, Tremblay also said to Reuters, \u201cAny mention of the need for further monetary accommodation would of course be positive for the precious metal. On the other hand, a focus on a higher inflation and employment forecast, rather than on current risks to economic growth, could see gold correct lower.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among some other precious metal market news, <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">Silver<\/a>, lost 0.2 percent to $30.73 an ounce, while\u00a0spot<strong> <\/strong>palladium\u00a0stood nearly flat at $663.72 an ounce.
