Google<\/strong> (NASDAQ:GOOG<\/a><\/strong>) has won a key contract from the government. The General Services Administration will now use Google\u2019s Gmail and other application for its employee. The company has been awarded the contract, beating Microsoft. The contract is likely to be worth $6.7 million and will last 5 years. It has been awarded to Unisys Corp. which is working in collaboration with Google and other companies. The company has gained traction after winning this key contract. The company however has not provided the details about other government organizations that have been approached by the company for its applications.<\/p>\n

* Google had recently faced problems while bidding for a contract from the Department of Interior.

The suit is currently pending. Google has also claimed to be the first cloud-based service provider to obtain certification from a federal agency. The company said that its software has been deemed fit to handle \u201cmoderate\u201d level data. This type of data includes sensitive information, however such information is deemed unclassified. The company also announced that it will not be handling any \u2018classified\u2019 information. <\/p>\n
