Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">silver prices<\/a> have also edged lower today.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-26300\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The ECB, which meets in Barcelona to discuss on monetary policy, is expected to resist pressure to do more to fight the\u00a0debt<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>crisis by maintaining its bond-buying program, to help Spain, which has fallen into recession.<\/p>\n<p><!--Ad Injection mfunc mode ad code--><!--mfunc adshow_display_ad_file_v2(array('ad_random_1.txt'), array(100), array('align' => 'float right', 'clear' => '', 'margin_top' => '', 'margin_bottom' => '', 'padding_top' => '', 'padding_bottom' => ''), array(), array()) --><\/p>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - in News 300 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"5684630733\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p>Even though Spain successfully auctioned both three and five year <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/bonds\/today.aspx\">bonds<\/a>, its cost of borrowing leaped at the latest round of bond auction, pointing investor\u2019s concerns over Spain\u2019s ability to finance itself amid recession.<\/p>\n<p>So far this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">gold<\/a> has lost 1%, prompting long term and short term investors to cut short positions in the yellow metal. Holdings of <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">gold<\/a> both in <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/commodities\/today.aspx\">futures<\/a> market and Exchange traded funds have fallen this week.<\/p>\n<p>At last check, <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">Spot gold<\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>was trading lower 0.5 percent at $1,644.90 an ounce, having declined by 1 percent so far this week.<\/p>\n<p>Most-active\u00a0U.S. June <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/commodities\/today.aspx\">futures<\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>were also down 0.5 percent at $1,645.70 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere has been a drop in ETF holdings and the more short-term investors seem to have withdrawn from the market somewhat,\u201d said Commerzbank analyst Daniel Briesemann to Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>Briesemann also believes that apart from firmer U.S dollar, the high correlation of <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">gold<\/a> to riskier asset classes is probably the most important factor putting pressure on prices (gold) right now.<\/p>\n<p>While holdings of gold in the world&#8217;s largest exchange-traded funds have dropped by nearly 1 million ounces since hitting a record high of 70.89 million ounces on March 16,\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/etfs\/today.aspx\">ETFs<\/a> have lost 576,575 ounces of metal over three successive months,- the longest string of net outflows since early 2010.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">Silver<\/a> was also down 0.8%, trading at $30.40 an ounce.
