Vodafone Plc<\/strong> (NASDAQ<\/a>:VOD<\/a><\/strong>) is nearing a deal to sell its stake in mobile service operator SFR. The company owns 44 percent stake in the company.<\/p>\n

Vodafone Plc is looking to sell its stake to Vivendi.
\nVodafone Plc is likely to use the sales proceeds for buying back its shares.
\nVodafone Plc. is expected to carry out its shares buyback program in 2011. The program is likely to purchase back $7.9 billion worth of its own shares. SFR has been valued at as much as $10.74 billion by analysts. Vivendi has long been interested in buying SFR off Vodafone\u2019s hands. The company CEO had said last month that acquiring SFR is a major priority for the company.<\/p>\n

Vodafone is also expected to sell of its stake in Polkomtel, which is a Polish phone company. The stake is likely to be sold to Zygmunt Solorz-Zak. However, both the companies viz. Vodafone and Vivendi have refused to issue any comment.<\/p>\n

Vodafone Plc. is operational in Europe, Asia and Africa, among other places. The company was earlier known as Vodafone AirTouch Plc. and it was incorporated in 1984. The company is based out of the UK. <\/p>\n
