Investors are hoping that the Fed would implement fresh measures to boost the U.S. economy. Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">silver prices<\/a> are also down sharply in trading currently.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-29420\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hopes of further monetary easing from the Fed have been raised following some tepid economic data. Analysts say that the Fed is most likely to extend its Operation Twist program, which ends this month.<\/p>\n<p><!--Ad Injection mfunc mode ad code--><!--mfunc adshow_display_ad_file_v2(array('ad_random_1.txt'), array(100), array('align' => 'float right', 'clear' => '', 'margin_top' => '', 'margin_bottom' => '', 'padding_top' => '', 'padding_bottom' => ''), array(), array()) --><\/p>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - in News 300 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"5684630733\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the Fed decision, spot <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">gold prices<\/a> are down 0.74% to $1,604.66 an ounce. <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">Gold<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/commodities\/today.aspx\">futures<\/a> for delivery in August on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange are down 1.18% to $1,604 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Reuters, Pradeep Unni of Richcomm Global Services, said that <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">gold<\/a> is steady and awaiting the Fed. Unni said that chances of direct QE-3 are slight but markets seems to be expecting a repeat of September 2011\u2019s Operation Twist at the end of the Fed meeting.<\/p>\n<p>A poll of 49 economists conducted by Reuters showed a 45% change that the Fed would eventually undertake another round of stimulus.<\/p>\n<p>In a research note, HSBC said that if the FOMC were to decline further easing this could undermine <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">gold<\/a> but even of bullion should drop, the price will hold above $1,600 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>Commerzbank said in a note that gold is still rangebound within the confines of its major 1532.20\/1522.48 support zone and the 1641 current June peak.<\/p>\n<p>In other precious metals, <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">silver prices<\/a> have slipped in trading today.
