The Fed Chairman will testify before Congress later today. <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"silver price today\">Silver<\/a> prices, meanwhile, have also edged higher in early trading today.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-30810\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Investors are hoping that Bernanke will hint at further monetary easing from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> during his testimony. Recent economic data, including Monday\u2019s weaker than expected retail sales report for the month of June, suggest that the growth has stalled.<\/p>\n<p><!--Ad Injection mfunc mode ad code--><!--mfunc adshow_display_ad_file_v2(array('ad_random_1.txt'), array(100), array('align' => 'float right', 'clear' => '', 'margin_top' => '', 'margin_bottom' => '', 'padding_top' => '', 'padding_bottom' => ''), array(), array()) --><\/p>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - in News 300 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"5684630733\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p>Further monetary easing from the Fed would be a positive for gold. However, gold prices could see a sharp drop if Bernanke does not hint at more easing.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Brebner, analyst at Deutsche Bank, told Reuters that as the U.S. data continues to deteriorate, the market is starting to anticipate some kind of action, or at last rhetoric, from the Fed to support growth. Brebner said that he thinks Bernanke will not explicitly discuss his options. Brebner added that he is not sure Bernanke is going to give the market what it wants.<\/p>\n<p>Spot gold prices are currently trading 0.4% higher at $1,595.19 an ounce. Gold futures for delivery in August on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange are currently trading $3.60 higher at $1,595.20 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>Silver prices have also edged higher in trading today.
