However, gains were limited as equities and commodities fell sharply amid renewed worries over the euro zone debt crisis. <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">Silver prices<\/a> also edged higher on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-31056\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Gold slipped in early trading on Friday as the euro weakened against the U.S. dollar. Central banks have been among the major buyers of gold in the last one year.<\/p>\n<p>Spot gold rose 0.2% to $1,584 an ounce. Gold futures for delivery in August on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange settled $2.40 higher at $1,582.80 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">Silver prices<\/a> also edged higher on Friday. At last check, spot <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"silver price today\">silver<\/a> was up 0.5% to $27 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>In late trading on Friday, the iShares Silver Trust (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=SLV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: SLV<\/a>) was up 0.34%, the ProShares Ultra Silver (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AGQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: AGQ<\/a>) was up 0.56%, and the ProShares UltraShort Silver (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nyse\/today.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"NYSE Today\">NYSE<\/a>:ZSL) was down 0.63%.<\/p>\n<p>In other precious metals, platinum and palladium slipped on Friday.
