However, all three major indexes still ended sharply lower on rising worries over the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/euro-zone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">euro zone<\/a> debt crisis.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-31137\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Dow Jones Today\">Dow Jones<\/a> ended the day 0.79% lower at 12,721.46, the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/sp500\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"snp500 today\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> ended the day 0.89% lower at 1,350.52, and the Nasdaq ended the day 1.20% lower at 2,890.15.<\/p>\n<p><!--Ad Injection mfunc mode ad code--><!--mfunc adshow_display_ad_file_v2(array('ad_random_1.txt'), array(100), array('align' => 'float right', 'clear' => '', 'margin_top' => '', 'margin_bottom' => '', 'padding_top' => '', 'padding_bottom' => ''), array(), array()) --><\/p>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - in News 300 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"5684630733\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p>All sectors in the S&amp;P 500 ended lower on Monday. The losses were led by Basic Materials sector, which ended 1.52% lower. Energy sector also fell sharply, ending the day 1.26% lower. Consumer Cyclical sector ended the day 1.10% lower. Financials ended 1.22% lower, while Technology sector ended 1.20% lower. Transportation sector finished 1.23% lower.<\/p>\n<p>Among the major losers on Monday were McDonald\u2019s Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=MCD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: MCD<\/a>), which ended the day 2.88% lower at $88.94, Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nyse\/today.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"NYSE Today\">NYSE<\/a>: CMG), which ended the day 3.46% lower at $306.01,and Akron Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AKRX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: AKRX<\/a>), which ended the day 7.85% lower at $13.73.<\/p>\n<p>Stocks fell sharply in early trading on Monday as renewed worries over the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/euro-zone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">euro zone<\/a> debt crisis weighed down investors\u2019 sentiment. Concerns over the euro zone debt crisis heightened after a number of regional governments in Spain were set to ask the central government for aid. Investors are concerned that Spain, which is euro zone\u2019s fourth-largest economy, may require a full-scale bailout.<\/p>\n<p>Yields on 10-year Spanish bonds rose to a euro era high on Monday. Spain also reported that its economy contracted in the second quarter of 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, investors also concerned that Greece may exit the euro zone after a German newspaper reported that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) may no longer provide financial assistance to the debt-laden country.<\/p>\n<p>The concerns dragged markets in Asia and Europe sharply lower on Monday.
