The precious metal was lifted by hopes of further monetary easing from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> and comments from European Central Bank (ECB) President Mario Draghi.<\/p>\n<p><!--Ad Injection mfunc mode ad code--><!--mfunc adshow_display_ad_file_v2(array('ad_random_1.txt'), array(100), array('align' => 'float right', 'clear' => '', 'margin_top' => '', 'margin_bottom' => '', 'padding_top' => '', 'padding_bottom' => ''), array(), array()) --><\/p>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - in News 300 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"5684630733\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Reuters, George Gero, Vice President at RBC Capital Markets, said that should we not pass upwards of $1,640 an ounce, should we get Fed disappointment of doing little prior to September, we could have a good setback.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> will begin its two-day monetary policy meeting on Tuesday. The ECB and the Bank of England are scheduled to hold their monetary policy meetings on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the crucial meetings, spot gold prices rose 0.03% to $1,623.35 an ounce on Monday. Meanwhile, gold futures for delivery in August settled $1.70 higher at $1,619.70 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>In other precious metals, silver prices rose 1.7% to $28.20 an ounce. Silver is on track for its first monthly after posting four straight monthly losses.<\/p>\n<p>In late trading on Monday, the iShares Silver Trust (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=SLV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: SLV<\/a>) was trading 1.35% higher at $27.33, the ProShares Ultra Silver (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AGQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: AGQ<\/a>) was trading 2.67% higher at $39.67, and the ProShares UltraShort Silver (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nyse\/today.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"NYSE Today\">NYSE<\/a>: ZSL) was trading 2.82% lower at $63.33.<\/p>\n<p>Platinum and palladium also edged higher on Monday.
