According to Standard &amp; Poor\u2019s Case Shiller home prices index, home prices rose for the second successive month in May.<\/p>\n<p>The Chicago purchasing managers index,-a gauge on state of affairs in the U.S. manufacturing sector,- surpassed analysts\u2019 expectations as the index rose in July. \u00a0U.S. consumer confidence index for July also climbed up more than expected while personal income in June rose, slightly beating analysts\u2019 forecast.<\/p>\n<p>Dow component Pfizer (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=PFE\">NYSE:PFE<\/a>) reported second quarter earnings which was in line with Street\u2019s expectations. The drug maker reported earnings of 0.54 a share on revenue of $15.1bn.<\/p>\n<p>Aetna\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AET\">NYSE: AET<\/a>) reported better than expected second-quarter earnings. The company also upwardly revised its full-year earnings outlook.<\/p>\n<p>Humana\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=HUM\">NYSE:HUM<\/a>\u00a0)\u00a0 second-quarter earnings beat street\u2019s expectations;\u00a0 however the company lowered its 2012 outlook due to costs associated with both new and existing Medicare patients.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of high- end leather bag maker Coach (<a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nyse\/today.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"NYSE Today\">NYSE<\/a>:COH) fell as company reported lower-than \u2013expected fiscal second quarter earnings.
