Money Running for the Exits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><!--Ad Injection mfunc mode ad include code--><!--mfunc include_once('\/mnt\/Target01\/327806\/www.thestockmarketwatch.com\/web\/content\/stock-market-news\/wp-content\/plugins\/ad-injection\/adshow.php') --><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p><!--Ad Injection mfunc mode ad include code--><!--mfunc--><br \/>\n<!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p>The Swiss 2-year sovereign just reached a -0.47 rate, and with JP Morgan doing such a good job suppressing paper bullion prices, <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">gold<\/a> has gone into a stealth \u2018backwardation\u2019, according to Goldmoney\u2019s James Turk.<\/p>\n<p>Quietly, the Swiss 2-year sovereign just broke through recent lows Friday, plunging to -0.435 percent.\u00a0\u00a0Instead of getting a toaster with your deposit, investors have to give the Swiss government a toaster along with their money\u2014each month, for two years?!<\/p>\n<p><!--Ad Injection mfunc mode ad code--><!--mfunc adshow_display_ad_file_v2(array('ad_random_1.txt'), array(100), array('align' => 'float right', 'clear' => '', 'margin_top' => '', 'margin_bottom' => '', 'padding_top' => '', 'padding_bottom' => ''), array(), array()) --><\/p>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - in News 300 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"5684630733\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p>In other words, big money knows a catastrophic event is near and a response by central banks won\u2019t be far behind.<\/p>\n<p><!--Ad Injection mfunc mode ad code--><!--mfunc--><\/p>\n<p><!--\/mfunc--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">Gold<\/a>\u2018s range-bound pricing while Swiss sovereign rates drop like a stone suggest an explosion in the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">gold price<\/a> is also near.\u00a0\u00a0In fact, because of the LIBOR manipulation scheme, <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">gold<\/a> may be already be in \u2018backwardation\u2019, but the market hasn\u2019t picked up on the fire in the theater.<\/p>\n<p>James Turk stated his rational for suggesting <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">gold<\/a> has reached backwardation to Eric King of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/kingworldnews.com\/kingworldnews\/KWN_DailyWeb\/Entries\/2012\/8\/3_Turk_-_Gold_Is_In_Backwardation__About_To_Rocket_Higher.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">King World News<\/a><em>\u00a0(KWN).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/bonds\/today.aspx\">Interest rates<\/a> are a reflection of risk.\u00a0\u00a0Normally, the lower the interest rate, the lower the risk of holding that particular type of money,\u201d Turk explained.\u00a0\u201cHistorically, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">gold<\/a>\u2019s interest rate has always been the lowest. . .<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/bonds\/today.aspx\">interest rates<\/a> for currencies are always higher than gold\u2019s interest rate.\u00a0\u00a0But because of this LIBOR scandal, and the fact that we are seeing <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/bonds\/today.aspx\">interest rates<\/a> being manipulated by central banks, for the past year we have had dollar <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/bonds\/today.aspx\">interest rates<\/a> lower than gold interest rates and that\u2019s a huge anomaly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the anomaly shown graphically; and from the graph, below, Turk\u2019s observation can lead the investor to conclude that he may have a valid point.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/wp-content\/plugins\/rss-poster\/cache\/97775_chart.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-31598\" title=\"chart\" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20120810081712im_\/http:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/wp-content\/plugins\/rss-poster\/cache\/97775_chart.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"368\" height=\"240\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pay particular attention to the white arrow in the chart, right around mid-May when the Swiss 2-year broke to a new low of -0.07 to -0.08 percent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Monday, May 14, something happened that hasn\u2019t happened since Dec of 2008,\u201d stated Keith Weiner in a post on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/commodities\/today.aspx\">futures<\/a> contracts were in backwardation at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gold (and <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">silver<\/a>) touched \u2018backwardation\u2019 the week following the Greek legislative elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn May 14, this is precisely what occurred,\u201d Weiner continued.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cBoth May and July <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">silver<\/a> are backwardated.\u00a0\u00a0And June gold is backwardated.\u00a0Incredibly, the May <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">silver<\/a> contract is giving away a 3% annualized profit to anyone who would sell physical <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">silver<\/a> and buy a May future that delivers in a few weeks (thus recovering the same position).\u00a0Even more incredibly, no one can or will take the profit that is dangling out there!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis should not be possible at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course, central bank \u201cmanhandling\u201d of interest rates, as Jim Grant puts it, are possible and create all sorts of distortions as well, not seen clearly, of course, during \u2018normal\u2019 times, but distortions become especially transparent during a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/category\/financial-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">financial crisis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Jim Sinclair\u2019s panic announcement of the possibility of an over-the-weekend global announcement of a new round of massive round of money printing from the G-6 was apparently warranted, as the Spanish 10-year rate began to distance itself to the upside from the 7 percent Maginot line of a Greece-like run while Swiss rates plunged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of people are misinterpreting what that [LIBOR manipulation] means,\u201d Turk continued.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s really just a temporary phenomenon.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s really just a reflection of all of the interventions we have in the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/live\/stock-market-today\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"6\" title=\"Stock Market Today\">market today<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Turk asked rhetorically, \u201cWhat we really have to consider is, is gold in backwardation?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it is, even though the gold forward rate doesn\u2019t show it simply because dollar interest rates are manipulated,\u201d he speculated.<\/p>\n<p>As amateur money watches the Dow, the big money isn\u2019t buying into the Friday\u2019s jobs number (or any job number), Warren Buffett\u2019s truly shameful malarkey about gold, and certainly not central bankers\u2019 equally pathetic diatribe.<\/p>\n<p>Most recent case in point: Another nonsensical jobs report out of the U.S. ministry of propaganda showed an \u2018unexpected\u2019 rise of 163,000 non-farm payroll jobs and an 8.3 percent jobless rate.\u00a0\u00a0But, Swiss money manager Egon von Greyerz of Matterhorn Asset Management explains why there\u2019s a panic run into Swiss paper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe real unemployment is 23%,\u201d von Greyerz told<a href=\"http:\/\/kingworldnews.com\/kingworldnews\/KWN_DailyWeb\/Entries\/2012\/8\/3_Greyerz_-_The_Risk_Of_Systemic_Collapse_Is_Now_Enormous.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KWN<\/a><em>,\u00a0<\/em>on the same day as the Turk interview Friday.\u00a0\u201cThe Non-farm Payroll going up by 163,000, if you look at the seasonal adjustments and the birth\/death model, those two adjustments were 429,000.\u00a0\u00a0So they added 429,000 out of nowhere, on paper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you take those 429,000 off of the 163,000, instead of an increase, you get a 266,00 decline in payroll.\u00a0\u00a0So the figures are nonsense\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Take it from the Swiss;
