The precious metal gained as China\u2019s July trade data indicated that the Chinese economy is headed for a hard landing. On Thursday, data showed that China\u2019s factory output rose at its lowest pace in three years.<\/p>\n<p>The recent economic data from China has raised prospects of monetary easing from China\u2019s central bank. Bullion investors are also hoping for monetary easing from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> and the European Central Bank.<\/p>\n<p>At last check on Friday, spot gold was trading 0.3% higher at $1,621.66 an ounce, while gold futures for December delivery on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange were trading $4.40 higher at $1,624.60 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>In other precious metals, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"silver price today\">silver<\/a> prices rose marginally on Friday. At last check, spot silver was up $0.01 to $28.11 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>In late trading on Friday, the iShares Silver Trust (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=SLV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: SLV<\/a>) was down 0.04%, the ProShares Ultra Silver (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AGQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: AGQ<\/a>) was up 0.05%, and the ProShares UltraShort Silver (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=ZSL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: ZSL<\/a>) was down 0.09%.<\/p>\n<p>Platinum and palladium slipped on Friday.
