Investors continue to remain on the sidelines ahead of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> Chairman Ben Bernanke\u2019s speech on Friday at Jackson Hole Wyoming, where global finance ministers and policy makers will meet at the Fed\u2019s annual symposium.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-33359\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At last check, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> Industrial Average Index was trading 0.46% lower at13047.55; the Nasdaq Composite Index was trading 0.52% lower at 3065.17 while the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/sp500\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"snp500 today\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> Index was trading 0.57% lower at 1402.40.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier today, a data released by U.S. Labor Department showed that weekly jobless claims stood flat at 374,000 as prior week\u2019s jobless claims report was revised to add 2000 more unreported applications.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a separate report showed that consumer spending increased by 0.4% in the month of July, the biggest leap in last five months, while personal income in July rose by 0.3%.<\/p>\n<p>In some corporate news, Citigroup Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: C<\/a>) has agreed to settle a lawsuit related to subprime mortgages filed by shareholders for $590 million. Shareholders had accused Citigroup of keeping a mum over its losses, which the bank incurred between February 2007 and April 2008 due to high exposure in toxic subprime mortgage assets.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of retailers Costco Wholesale Corp.\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=COST\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ:COST<\/a>)\u00a0and\u00a0Limited Brands\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=LTD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: LTD<\/a>) gained after both companies reported better than expected same-store sales for the month of\u00a0August.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of Pandora Media Inc.
