The move from People\u2019s Bank of China, China\u2019s central bank, has raised hopes of further monetary stimulus. If indeed Chinese policymakers provide further stimulus to boost economic growth then gold prices could rise significantly.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Reuters, Bill O\u2019Neill, Partner LOGIC Advisors, a commodity investment firm, said that the gold market is a market that reflects concerns. O\u2019Neill said that there is speculation that China will engage in additional stimulus measures.<\/p>\n<p>Gold prices also rose after Spanish government announced new austerity measures in its 2013 budget.<\/p>\n<p>Spot gold prices gained 1.5% to $1,777 an ounce on Thursday. Gold futures for delivery in December on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange rose $26.90 to $1,780.50 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">Silver prices<\/a> also rallied on Thursday, with spot <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"silver price today\">silver<\/a> gaining 2% to $34 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>In late trading on Thursday, the iShares Silver Trust (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=SLV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: SLV<\/a>) was up 2.25%, the ProShares Ultra Silver (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AGQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: AGQ<\/a>) was up 4.49%, and the ProShares UltraShort Silver (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=ZSL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: ZSL<\/a>) was down 4.45%.<\/p>\n<p>Platinum and palladium also rose sharply on Thursday.
