{"id":36222,"date":"2012-10-20T03:59:00","date_gmt":"2012-10-20T03:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/sandisk-shares-rally-on-q3-results-sndk\/36222\/"},"modified":"2012-10-20T03:59:00","modified_gmt":"2012-10-20T03:59:00","slug":"sandisk-shares-rally-on-q3-results-sndk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/sandisk-shares-rally-on-q3-results-sndk\/36222\/","title":{"rendered":"SanDisk Shares Rally on Q3 Results (SNDK)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Shares of data storage solutions provider, SanDisk Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=SNDK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: SNDK<\/a>) gained 2.71 percent on Friday after the company announced better than expected fiscal third-quarter earnings and revenue even as the management provided upbeat outlook on the fiscal fourth quarter thanks to company\u2019s rising market share in the retail segment across different geographical locations.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-36222\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>While the OEM division which includes mobile embedded business and SSDs recorded strong growth in revenue compared to previous quarter, retail products segment witnessed strong back-to-school demand.<\/p>\n<p>For the quarter (July September), the company reported net profit of $76.5 million, or 31 cents per share, \u00a067 percent plunge from $233.3 million, or 96 cents per share, in the year earlier quarter. Adjusted earnings stood at $117.8 million, or 48 cents per share, in the latest quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Total revenue came at $1.27 billion, 10.1% lower than year earlier quarter but 23.3 % higher than previous quarter\u2019s revenue. Analysts\u2019 consensual estimate was for earnings of 33 cents per share (on adjusted basis on revenue of $1.22 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Segment wise, revenue from products fell 10.6% YOY to $1.18 billion while revenue from royalty and license dropped 3.3% YOY to $ 91.0 million. However, both segments performed much better compared to the previous quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the management also provided a positive outlook on the fiscal fourth quarter.
