{"id":36339,"date":"2012-10-23T08:21:00","date_gmt":"2012-10-23T08:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-prices-slide-silver-prices-also-fall-sharply\/36320\/"},"modified":"2012-10-23T08:21:00","modified_gmt":"2012-10-23T08:21:00","slug":"gold-prices-slide-silver-prices-also-fall-sharply","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-prices-slide-silver-prices-also-fall-sharply\/36339\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold Prices Slide; Silver Prices also Fall Sharply"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">Gold prices<\/a> slumped into red territory during Asian trading hours on Tuesday as investors remain in sidelines, waiting for the Federal\u2019s Reserve\u2019s policy statement, scheduled to be announced on Wednesday; however, analysts reckon that prices will continue to hover near lower $1700 an ounce band as bargain hunters will quickly pounce on any opportunity. <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">Silver prices<\/a> also fell sharply in early trading on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-36339\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> is scheduled to kick-off its two-day FOMC meeting on Tuesday; and, even though no major policy shift is expected, investors are little anxious, making sure that Fed\u2019s policy setting committee does not throw any surprises.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting over gold\u2019s possible price course amid FOMC, Brian Lan, managing director of GoldSilver Central Pte Ltd in Singapore, said to Reuters, \u201cWe are not expecting much, unless there are surprises from the Fed. So I believe gold will still be trading within this band. A lot of investors are also eyeing the outcome of the presidential election in the U.S.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lan also added that there is very slim chance of gold plunging further. \u201cOn the local market front, there&#8217;s still very positive demand from clients. We see more clients coming to purchase gold, especially whenever there&#8217;s a price dip,\u201d said Lan.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Monday, gold prices found a strong support as it neared lower $1,700 an level. Demand from Jewelers in India was very strong on Monday due to lower prices and stronger rupee.
