Stocks slipped in trading today even as investors digested some robust economic data.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-36549\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At last check, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> was trading 0.35% lower at 13,057.25, the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/sp500\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"snp500 today\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> was trading 0.52% lower at 1,405.67, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nasdaq\/today.aspx\">Nasdaq<\/a> was trading 0.71% lower at 2,964.70.<\/p>\n<p>All sectors in the S&amp;P 500 are currently in red. Consumer Cyclical sector is leading the losses in the S&amp;P 500 in mid-day trading today. At last check, the sector was down 1.33%. Energy sector is currently trading 0.48% lower, while Basic Materials sector is currently trading 0.64% lower. Financials are down 0.91% in mid-day trading. Healthcare sector is currently trading 0.64% lower.<\/p>\n<p>Among the major gainers and losers in trading currently are Amazon.com Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AMZN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: AMZN<\/a>), which is currently trading 3.28% higher at $230.22, Apple Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AAPL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: AAPL<\/a>), which is currently trading 2.71% lower at $593.15, Comcast Corp. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=CMCSA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: CMCSA<\/a>), which is currently trading 2.15% higher at $37.14, Citigroup Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: C<\/a>), which is currently trading 2.17% lower at $36.60, DeVry Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=DV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: DV<\/a>), which is currently trading 22.53% higher at $25.51, Verisign Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=VRSN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: VRSN<\/a>), which is currently trading 18.69% lower at $37.89, and NetSuite Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=N\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: N<\/a>), which is currently trading 14.44% higher at $65.13.<\/p>\n<p>On the economic front, a report released by the Commerce Department showed that the U.S. economy grew at a 2% annual rate in the third quarter of 2012, beating economists\u2019 forecast of a 1.9% annual growth rate. Meanwhile, consumer sentiment climbed to 82.6 in the month of October, according to the final reading on the Thomson Reuters\/University of Michigan\u2019s consumer sentiment index. This is the highest level in five years.
