Better than expected U.S. GDP data released earlier today failed to lift investors\u2019 sentiment.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-36556\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> ended the day 0.03% higher at 13,107.21, the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/sp500\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"snp500 today\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> ended the day 0.07% lower at 1,411.94, and the Nasdaq ended the day 0.06% higher at 2,987.95.<\/p>\n<p>For the week, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> fell 1.77%, the S&amp;P 500 fell 1.48%, and the Nasdaq fell 0.59%.<\/p>\n<p>Consumer Cyclical sector was the worst performer in the S&amp;P 500 in trading today, ending the day 0.86% lower. Financials also fell sharply today, ending the day 0.65% lower. Technology sector was the best performer in the S&amp;P 500 today, ending the day 0.09% higher.<\/p>\n<p>Among the major gainers and losers in trading today were Amazon.com Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AMZN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: AMZN<\/a>), which ended the day 6.87% higher at $238.24, Apple Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AAPL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: AAPL<\/a>), which ended the day 0.91% lower at $604, Comcast Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=CMCSA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: CMCSA<\/a>), which ended the day 3.30% higher at $37.56, Citigroup Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: C<\/a>), which ended the day 2.17% lower at $36.60, DeVry Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=DV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: DV<\/a>), which ended the day 24.93% higher at $26.01, Deckers Outdoor Corp. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=DECK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: DECK<\/a>), which ended the day 16.77% lower at $29.54, and Expedia Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=EXPE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: EXPE<\/a>), which ended the day 15.24% higher at $59.06.<\/p>\n<p>On the economic front, a report released by the Commerce Department showed that the U.S. economy grew at a 2% annual rate in the third quarter. Meanwhile, the final reading on the Thomson Reuters\/University of Michigan\u2019s consumer sentiment index for the month of October came in at 82.6.<\/p>\n<p>European markets ended mostly higher today, with the FTSE 100 Index in London closing 0.03% higher, and the CAC 40 Index in Paris closing 0.69% higher at 3,435.09.
