{"id":37260,"date":"2012-11-09T03:52:00","date_gmt":"2012-11-09T03:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/walt-disney-reports-q4-results-dis\/37260\/"},"modified":"2012-11-09T03:52:00","modified_gmt":"2012-11-09T03:52:00","slug":"walt-disney-reports-q4-results-dis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/walt-disney-reports-q4-results-dis\/37260\/","title":{"rendered":"Walt Disney Reports Q4 Results (DIS)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Shares of entertainment conglomerate, Walt Disney Company (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=DIS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: DIS<\/a>) edged 2.62% lower in aftermarket trading on Thursday after it announced fiscal fourth-quarter revenue fell short of Street estimates even as earnings came in line with analysts\u2019 consensus estimate.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-37260\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Walt Disney, which has been involved in spate of acquisitions in the recent past, said that company is now inclined towards achieving growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Walt Disney] is transitioning out of an investment mode and transitioning into a more-compelling growth mode,\u201d said Walt Disney\u2019s Chief Executive, Robert Iger.<\/p>\n<p>The 14% jump in quarterly profits was mainly attributed to strong performance from its media networks, especially ESPN.\u00a0 The company has posted record profits and revenue for the fiscal 2012. Addressing analysts in a conference call, Mr. Iger said, \u201cThese results once again demonstrate our ability to grow earnings in the near term while investing in the long term.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For the quarter which ended on September 29, the company reported profit of $1.24 or 68 cents compared to $1.09 billion or 58 cents, in the year earlier quarter.\u00a0 Revenue for the period stood at $10.78 billion compared to $10.43, in the year earlier quarter.
