Meanwhile, Italy\u2019s debt downgrade and weak economic data from China is also weighing market sentiment.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-42508\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At last check, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> Industrial Average Index slid 0.13%; the NASDAQ Composite Index fell 0.23% while the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/sp500\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"snp500 today\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> Index fell 0.20%.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of Dick\u2019s Sporting Goods (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=DKS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: DKS<\/a>)\u00a0 slumped more than 7% in early trading after the retailer\u2019s fourth-quarter results fell short of Street\u2019s estimates. The Company reported earnings of $1.03 a share which was 3 cents short of analysts\u2019 expectation. DKS said that positive trends in footwear and apparel divisions were offset by lower-than-expected sales in outerwear and cold weather accessories.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of Best Buy Co. Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=BBY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: BBY<\/a>) edged higher on Monday after Piper Jaffray\u00a0 upgraded the consumer electronics chain\u2019s stock to &#8220;overweight&#8221; from &#8220;neutral,&#8221; citing new management is in the initial stages of a multi-year turnaround process.<\/p>\n<p>In some other markets, crude oil <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/commodities\/today.aspx\">futures<\/a> fell 0.71% to $91.30 a barrel while U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">gold<\/a> futures edged up 0.15% to $1,579.20 an ounce<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. dollar traded mainly higher against major traded currencies on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>No major U.S economic data is due to release on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in Europe, nearly all leading benchmark indexes traded in red territory as investors\u2019 sentiment was weighed down after Fitch ratings on Friday downgraded Italy\u2019s credit rating by a notch on Friday to BBB+ from A- with a negative outlook, citing political uncertainty in Europe\u2019s third largest economy&#8212;overshadowing better than expected German exports data for January, released earlier today.<\/p>\n<p>The Pan European Stoxx 600 Index fell 0.27% , at last check.<\/p>\n<p>In Asia, markets ended mixed on Monday as string of unexpectedly weak economic data released over the weekend in China, kept the market sentiment slightly subdued. While China\u2019s benchmark index the Shanghai Composite Index slid 0.35%, Hong Kong\u2019s Hang Seng ended flat.
