{"id":42819,"date":"2013-03-20T08:33:00","date_gmt":"2013-03-20T08:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-euro-steady-against-the-dollar\/42813\/"},"modified":"2013-03-20T08:33:00","modified_gmt":"2013-03-20T08:33:00","slug":"forex-market-update-euro-steady-against-the-dollar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-euro-steady-against-the-dollar\/42819\/","title":{"rendered":"Forex Market Update: Euro Steady against the Dollar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>The euro held steady against the U.S. dollar on Wednesday as buyers capitalized on recent dips after the single currency of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/euro-zone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">euro zone<\/a> plunged to four-month low\u00a0 in the previous session following Cypriot Parliament\u2019s rejection of the terms laid down by euro zone finance ministers in lieu of a bailout.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-42819\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Tuesday, as expected, the Cypriot Parliament downrightly rejected Brussels\u2019 proposal for taxing depositors, triggering concerns over possible default from the island nation and bank runs.<\/p>\n<p>However, market analysts have played down concerns shown by the market participants, saying that policymakers will soon fix the problem and the debt crisis in Cyprus was minuscule compared to bigger problems encountered by the currency bloc (debt crisis in other peripheral economies of the euro zone).<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, the euro edged up 0.1 percent at $1.2890, hovering near its 200-day moving average of $1.2876.
