All three major indexes had fallen sharply earlier in the day amid concerns over political stalemate in Italy.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-43013\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> ended the day 0.23% lower at 14,526.16, the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/sp500\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"snp500 today\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> ended the day 0.06% lower at 1,562.85, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nasdaq\/today.aspx\">Nasdaq<\/a> ended the day 0.12% higher at 3,256.52.<\/p>\n<p>Conglomerates were the worst performers in the S&amp;P 500, ending the day 0.55% lower. Financials also fell, ending the day 0.31% lower. Consumer Non-Cyclical sector ended the day 0.39% lower. Transportation sector was the best performer today, ending the day 0.29% higher. Healthcare sector ended the day 0.26% higher, while Utilities ended the day 0.21% higher.<\/p>\n<p>Among the major movers in trading on Wednesday were Mattress Firm Holding Corp. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=MFRM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: MFRM<\/a>), which ended the day 12.09% higher at $34.77, AOL Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AOL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: AOL<\/a>), which ended the day 8.38% higher at $39.20, Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=CLF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: CLF<\/a>), which ended the day 13.86% lower at $18.46, Francesca\u2019s Holdings Corp. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=FRAN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: FRAN<\/a>), which ended the day 5.41% lower at $28.52, and Select Comfort Corp. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=SCSS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: SCSS<\/a>), which ended the day 7.42% higher at $20.41.<\/p>\n<p>European markets ended mostly lower on Wednesday, with the FTSE 100 Index in London closing 0.18% lower, and the CAC 40 Index in Paris closing 0.99% lower.
