{"id":43130,"date":"2013-04-03T09:52:00","date_gmt":"2013-04-03T09:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-euro-edges-up-yen-falls\/43125\/"},"modified":"2013-04-03T09:52:00","modified_gmt":"2013-04-03T09:52:00","slug":"forex-market-update-euro-edges-up-yen-falls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-euro-edges-up-yen-falls\/43130\/","title":{"rendered":"Forex Market Update: Euro Edges Up, Yen Falls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>The euro gained traction against the U.S. dollar on Wednesday after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) confirmed the term and conditions under which the Cyprus will get $10 billion in financial aid from the troika [International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Union (EU)].<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-43130\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The euro hit an intra-day high of $1.2839 against the dollar following the conformation before retreating to $1.2833 by 9:30 a.m.\u00a0 EST.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier today, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde said the fund would offer financial assistance of euro 1 billion ($1.28 billion) over the course of next three years as part of Cyprus&#8217; \u20ac10 billion bailout plan, approved last week, averting the financial meltdown in the island nation.<\/p>\n<p>The confirmation eased the nerves and lifted the euro which was rather steady in Asian trading hours as market participants wait for the ECB\u2019s policy rate statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Disappointing economic data release from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/currency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">currency<\/a> bloc failed to hurt the euro though. According to Eurostat, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/euro-zone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">euro zone<\/a> climbed at its slowest pace in March with annual inflation rate rising to 1.7% down from1.8% increase in the previous month. CPI in March rose by 2.7%.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the yen edged down against the U.S. dollar amid rising expectations that the Bank of Japan (BOJ), which started its two-day policy rate meeting on Wednesday, would announce more monetary easing measure to stimulate the economy.
