{"id":43567,"date":"2013-04-11T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-04-11T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-euro-climbs-against-dollar-and-yen\/43564\/"},"modified":"2013-04-11T09:00:00","modified_gmt":"2013-04-11T09:00:00","slug":"forex-market-update-euro-climbs-against-dollar-and-yen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-euro-climbs-against-dollar-and-yen\/43567\/","title":{"rendered":"Forex Market Update: Euro Climbs against Dollar and Yen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>The euro climbed to a one-month high against the U.S. dollar during European trading hours on Thursday after the sentiment in the single <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/currency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">currency<\/a> improved significantly following Italy\u2019s successful auction of its sovereign bonds amid lower borrowing costs.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-43567\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Italy, reeling under political gridlock ever since the voters gave\u00a0 a fractured mandate during elections which were held in February with no political party having enough numbers to control the upper house of the senate, raised\u00a0 euro 7.169 billion ($9.37 billion) by auctioning three government bonds.<\/p>\n<p>Following the bond auctions, the euro traded above $1.31 against the dollar while the benchmark Stoxx 600 index also held modest gains.<\/p>\n<p>At last check, (around 8:00 a.m. EST), the euro edged up 0.45% to trade at 1.131.30 against the dollar, which is its one month high.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the yen fell sharply against the euro in Asian trading hours.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the euro hit its three-year high against the yen, continuing its gains after the Bank of Japan (BOJ), with an aim to drag the economy out of deflation, announced series of extremely aggressive monetary easing measures , last week, triggering sell-off pressure on the yen.
