All three major indexes rose for a second successive trading session.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-43838\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> ended the day 0.14% higher at 14,567.17, the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/sp500\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"snp500 today\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> ended the day 0.47% higher at 1,562.50, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nasdaq\/today.aspx\">Nasdaq<\/a> ended the day 0.86% higher at 3,233.55.<\/p>\n<p>All sectors in the S&amp;P 500 except Conglomerates ended the day in green. Technology sector led the gains, ending the day 1% higher. Basic Materials and Energy sectors also rose sharply, ending the day 0.61% and 0.85% higher, respectively. Conglomerates ended the day 0.82% lower.<\/p>\n<p>Among the major movers on Monday were Caterpillar Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=CAT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: CAT<\/a>), which ended the day 2.83% higher at $82.71, General Electric Company (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=GE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: GE<\/a>), which ended the day 1.84% lower at $21.35, Apple Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AAPL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: AAPL<\/a>), which ended the day 2.08% higher at $398.67, International Business Machines Corp. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=IBM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: IBM<\/a>), which ended the day 1.14% lower at $187.83, and Microsoft Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=MSFT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: MSFT<\/a>), which ended the day 3.58% higher at $30.83.<\/p>\n<p>On the economic front, a report released by the National Association of Realtors showed that existing home sales slipped 0.6% in March to a seasonally adjusted 4.92 million annual rate.<\/p>\n<p>European markets ended on a mixed note on Monday, with FTSE 100 Index in London closing 0.09% lower, and the CAC 40 Index in Paris closing flat.
