{"id":43880,"date":"2013-04-24T08:18:00","date_gmt":"2013-04-24T08:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-prices-up-silver-prices-also-gain-2\/43874\/"},"modified":"2013-04-24T08:18:00","modified_gmt":"2013-04-24T08:18:00","slug":"gold-prices-up-silver-prices-also-gain-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-prices-up-silver-prices-also-gain-2\/43880\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold Prices Up, Silver Prices Also Gain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\">Gold prices<\/a> edged higher during Asian trading hours on Wednesday, paring previous session\u2019s losses. <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">Silver prices<\/a> also edged higher in early trading on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-43880\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At last check, U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">gold<\/a> futures for June delivery gained 0.85% to $1,420.80 an ounce while spot gold advanced 0.64% to $1,421.31 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, gold futures\u2019 three-day winning streak was snapped after the U.S. dollar gained sharply against all major traded currencies, making gold expensive for traders dealing in currencies other than the US\u00a0 dollar<\/p>\n<p>A decent US housing market data while a rally in equity markets thanks to a spate of reasonably satisfactory earnings\u00a0 reports from blue chip companies\u00a0 drifted investors away towards better performing assets.<\/p>\n<p>Gold is on course to shed 12% this month\u00a0 as constant outflows from gold-backed ETFs and several banks slashing their average price outlook, has put heavy sell-off pressure.<\/p>\n<p>A data provided by Reuters showed that holdings of the world\u2019s largest gold-backed ETF, the SPDR Gold Trust (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=GLD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: GLD<\/a>), fell to three and half year low on Tuesday.
