{"id":43945,"date":"2013-04-26T06:32:00","date_gmt":"2013-04-26T06:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/starbucks-corp-s-q2-earnings-match-estimates-q3-earnings-guidance-disappoints-sbux\/43944\/"},"modified":"2013-04-26T06:32:00","modified_gmt":"2013-04-26T06:32:00","slug":"starbucks-corp-s-q2-earnings-match-estimates-q3-earnings-guidance-disappoints-sbux","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/starbucks-corp-s-q2-earnings-match-estimates-q3-earnings-guidance-disappoints-sbux\/43945\/","title":{"rendered":"Starbucks Corp.\u2019s Q2 Earnings Match Estimates, Q3 Earnings Guidance Disappoints (SBUX)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>World\u2019s largest coffeehouse chain, Starbucks Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=SBUX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: SBUX<\/a>) reported fiscal second-quarter results late on Thursday, which showed earnings coming in-line with expectation while revenue stood slightly higher than estimate.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-43945\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, shares slipped about 1.50% in extended trading hours as the Company provided downbeat guidance on the current quarter.<\/p>\n<p>For the quarter, Starbuck reported adjusted earnings of 48 cents a share up from 40 cents a share, in the year-earlier quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Revenue during the quarter jumped 11% to $3.6 billion from $3.20 billion, in the same quarter of last year.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters were expecting earnings of 48 cents a share on revenue of $3.59 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Same-store-sales, a key gauge on restaurant chain\u2019s performance as it includes the sales impact from only established stores or stores that were operating at least 12 months, increased 6% aided by 4% rise in traffic and 2% gain in average ticket.<\/p>\n<p>While same-store sales rose 6% in the Americas, it increased 7% in the U.S. In Asia Pacific, including China, same-store-sales climbed 8%, it fell 2% in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>For the fiscal third quarter, Starbuck is expecting earnings to come in the range of 50 to 53 cents a share, which is a penny short than analysts\u2019 expectation.
