{"id":44054,"date":"2013-04-30T09:13:00","date_gmt":"2013-04-30T09:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-euro-eases-against-the-u-s-dollar\/44049\/"},"modified":"2013-04-30T09:13:00","modified_gmt":"2013-04-30T09:13:00","slug":"forex-market-update-euro-eases-against-the-u-s-dollar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-euro-eases-against-the-u-s-dollar\/44054\/","title":{"rendered":"Forex Market Update: Euro Eases against the U.S.  Dollar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>The euro fell against the U.S. dollar on Tuesday as expectations over further monetary easing from the European Central Bank (ECB) increased after economic data releases from the monetary union showed that the region\u2019s economy continues to struggle.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-44054\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, currency strategists are expecting dollar gains vis-\u00e0-vis the common currency to remain capped as speculation is rife that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a>, which will kick-start its two-day policy rate meeting on Tuesday, might continue with its ongoing quantitative easing or QE3 (monthly $85 billion worth bond purchase program), following the release of disappointing first-quarter GDP data on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>At last check, the euro fell 0.17% to trade at $1.3077.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;d be very surprised if they (the European Central Bank) didn&#8217;t cut rates. I don&#8217;t know how bad it has to get before they actually take action,\u201d said Richard Driver, a currency market analyst for Caxton FX, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier today, a data release showed that annual inflation in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/euro-zone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">euro zone<\/a> fell to 1.2% in April, which is lowest level since February 2010 while the region\u2019s unemployment rate climbed to 12.1% in March.<\/p>\n<p>It is believed that the ECB will slash its benchmark interest rate by another 25 basis points to 0.50%. The ECB is scheduled to announce its policy rate statement on Thursday.
