{"id":44245,"date":"2013-05-08T06:55:00","date_gmt":"2013-05-08T06:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/tripadvisor-q1-results-beat-expectations-trip\/44245\/"},"modified":"2013-05-08T06:55:00","modified_gmt":"2013-05-08T06:55:00","slug":"tripadvisor-q1-results-beat-expectations-trip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/tripadvisor-q1-results-beat-expectations-trip\/44245\/","title":{"rendered":"Tripadvisor Q1 Results Beat Expectations (TRIP)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Tripadvisor Inc.\u2019s (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=TRIP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: TRIP<\/a>) fiscal first-quarter results topped street\u2019s expectation.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-44245\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the travel planner reported a net income of $62.3 million or 43 cents a share for the fiscal first quarter, up from $48.1 million or 35 cents a share, in the year-earlier quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Adjusted or non-GAAP earnings came at $73.1 million or 50 cents a share compared to $52.5 million or 38 cents a share, in the same quarter of last fiscal.<\/p>\n<p>Revenue for the period soared 25% to $229.92 million from $183.72 million.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters were expecting earnings of 46 cents a share on revenue of $223.76 million.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the Company also announced that it has agreed to acquire Numba.com ( a vacation rental site); however, financial details of the deal were not made known.<\/p>\n<p>A number of Wall Street equity research firms have upgraded the stock.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, analysts at Monness Crespi &amp; Hardt lifted their price target on the stock to $60 from $50 and set a \u201cbuy\u201d rating.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on April 30, analysts at Thomson Reuters\/ Verus boosted their rating on the stock to \u201cbuy\u201d rating from \u201csell\u201d rating.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, analysts at Deutsche Bank in their research report released April 18, maintained a &#8220;buy&#8221; rating and lifted the price target on the stock to $57.00 from $52.00.<\/p>\n<p>At present, 14 equity research firms maintain \u201chold\u201d rating, nine firms have \u201cbuy\u201d rating while one firm keep \u201csell\u201d rating on the stock.
