{"id":45554,"date":"2013-06-28T08:41:00","date_gmt":"2013-06-28T08:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-dollar-gains-against-the-yen\/45552\/"},"modified":"2024-08-25T18:09:18","modified_gmt":"2024-08-25T18:09:18","slug":"forex-market-update-dollar-gains-against-the-yen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-dollar-gains-against-the-yen\/45554\/","title":{"rendered":"Forex Market Update: Dollar Gains against the Yen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. dollar rose sharply against the yen but fell against the euro as investors took new positions on the last day of the month and second quarter of the year.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-45554\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>However, the dollar index remained mainly steady.<\/p>\n<p>The dollar gains were capped on Friday after several top <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> officials on Thursday downplayed growing speculation over early tapering of the bond purchase program.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Fed President, William Dudley said that the central bank could embark on more aggressive monetary policy, against current laid out plan of possible squeeze before the year end, should U.S. economic indicators, show signs of weakness.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Minneapolis Fed President Narayana Kocherlakota also denied that the Fed was now\u00a0 adopting a hawkish policy stance.<\/p>\n<p>At last check, the U.S. dollar gained 0.61% against the Japanese <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/currency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">currency<\/a> to trade at yen98.95.<\/p>\n<p>However, against the euro it was down 0.30% to trade at $1.3077.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting over the currency market, Richard Falkenhall, FX Strategist at SEB Merchant Banking said, \u201cThere should be some rebalancing flows going through,&#8221;
