After the Portuguese Prime Minister refused to accept the resignation letter from the country\u2019s foreign minister on Tuesday, news reports said that two more cabinet ministers are preparing to resign from their posts.<\/p>\n<p>Yields on Portuguese bonds jumped while European equities tumbled as investors fear that the contagion could also spread to other struggling peripheral economies of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/euro-zone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">euro zone<\/a> such as Greece, Italy and Spain.<\/p>\n<p>The common currency also fell more than 1% against the safe-haven yen to trade at 129.01 on EBS trading platform, showed a data provided by Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>The euro\u2019s slump against the yen also weighed on the U.S. dollar which fell more than 1% to trade at 99.42 yen.<\/p>\n<p>However, analysts expect the U.S. dollar to rebound if Friday\u2019s non-farm data show solid numbers.
