{"id":45832,"date":"2013-07-11T08:30:00","date_gmt":"2013-07-11T08:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-dollar-falls-against-all-major-traded-currencies-after-bernankes-comments\/45829\/"},"modified":"2024-08-25T18:09:10","modified_gmt":"2024-08-25T18:09:10","slug":"forex-market-update-dollar-falls-against-all-major-traded-currencies-after-bernankes-comments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-dollar-falls-against-all-major-traded-currencies-after-bernankes-comments\/45832\/","title":{"rendered":"Forex Market Update: Dollar Falls against All Major Traded Currencies after Bernanke\u2019s Comments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. dollar traded broadly lower on Thursday after the dovish remarks from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> Chairman Ben Bernanke suggested that the bank\u2019s extremely accommodating policy- the $85 billion worth monthly bond purchase program, will continue for the time being.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-45832\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>While addressing a group of economists at the National Bureau of Economic Research, Bernanke said that the bond purchases program will not be stopped in the immediate future since the U.S. economy still warranted some support through monetary easing.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fed<\/a>\u2019s minutes from its latest open market committee meeting (FOMC) showed that the policymakers were divided over the timing of the winding down of the asset purchases. While half of policymakers supported tapering by the year-end, others contended that the labor market wasn\u2019t strong enough to persuade reducing the pace of economic stimulating measures.<\/p>\n<p>The dollar index, a measure on greenback\u2019s performance vis-\u00e0-vis a basket of six major traded currencies, fell as low as 82.418, its lowest level since June 25 and also down nearly 2.8% from its three-year peak of 84.753, hit two sessions ago, showed a data provided by Reuters. The U.S. dollar index though recovered slightly and was at 83.005, at last check.<\/p>\n<p>The Fed Chairman\u2019s remarks were in sharp contrast to his earlier comments.
