{"id":45853,"date":"2013-07-12T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-07-12T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/radioshack-considering-hiring-investment-bank-to-improve-its-balance-sheet-rsh\/45850\/"},"modified":"2024-08-25T18:09:09","modified_gmt":"2024-08-25T18:09:09","slug":"radioshack-considering-hiring-investment-bank-to-improve-its-balance-sheet-rsh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/radioshack-considering-hiring-investment-bank-to-improve-its-balance-sheet-rsh\/45853\/","title":{"rendered":"RadioShack Considering Hiring Investment Bank to Improve its Balance Sheet (RSH)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Electronic goods retailer, RadioShack Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=RSH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: RSH<\/a>) said on Thursday that it was considering consulting investment bank to improve its balance sheet.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-45853\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As debt matures and sales tumble, Radio Shack is now hard-pressed to find ways to get rid of bloated inventories and use cash more effectively, said a trade publication Debtwire, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting over Company\u2019s decision to hire a financial adviser, RadioShack Corp\u2019s spokesman Kirk Brewer said, \u201cLike many companies, we have discussions with investment banks to help us evaluate ways to further strengthen our balance sheet and manage it efficiently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat has been the sole focus of these discussions,\u201d added Brewer.<\/p>\n<p>The Company hasn\u2019t reported a quarterly profit since 2012 as both sales and margins have declined sharply. Although RadioShack appointed a new CEO, Joseph Magnacca in Feb. 2013 and put in place some new experimental concepts for its stores, the company has failed to turnaround.<\/p>\n<p>RadioShack Corp\u2019s sagging business was reflected by its recent quarterly results. On April 23, the Company reported that comparable-store-sales in the fiscal first quarter fell 5.7% while inventories soared 27%.<\/p>\n<p>At that moment, RadioShack said that it feared things will not improve by the first half of 2013.
