Stocks also rose sharply for the week.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-45881\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> ended the day 0.02% higher at 15,464.30, the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/indices\/sp500\/today\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"snp500 today\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> ended the day 0.31% higher at 1,680.19, and the Nasdaq ended the day 0.61% higher at 3,600.08. For the week, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> rose 2.16%, the S&amp;P 500 rose 2.96%, and the Nasdaq rose 3.47%.<\/p>\n<p>Healthcare sector led the gains in the S&amp;P 500 on Friday, ending the day 0.62% higher. Technology sector also edged higher, ending the day 0.36% higher. Basic Materials sector was the worst performer in the S&amp;P 500, ending the day 0.82% lower.<\/p>\n<p>Among the major movers in trading on Friday were WebMD Health Corp. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=WBMD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: WBMD<\/a>), which ended the day 25.45% higher at $33.82, United Parcel Service Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=UPS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: UPS<\/a>), which ended the day 5.83% lower at $86.12, and Wells Fargo &amp; Co. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=WFC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: WFC<\/a>), which ended the day 1.77% higher at $42.63.<\/p>\n<p>On the economic front, a report released by the Labor Department showed that producer prices rose 0.8% in the month of June. Meanwhile, the Thomson Reuters\/University of Michigan\u2019s preliminary consumer sentiment index for July fell to 83.9.<\/p>\n<p>European markets ended on a mixed note on Friday, with the FTSE 100 Index in London closing 0.02% higher, and the CAC 40 Index in Paris closing 0.36% lower.
