However, spot <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">gold price<\/a> eased on Monday. Spot <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"silver price today\">silver<\/a> prices also edged lower.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-46261\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Gold futures were last trading $7.50 higher at $1,329 an ounce while spot gold was last trading 0.29% lower at $1,329.44 an ounce. In late trading, the SPDR Gold Trust (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=GLD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: GLD<\/a>) was down 0.23% to $128.50.<\/p>\n<p>Spot silver was last down 0.30% to $19.89 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a>\u2019s two-day open market committee meeting (FOMC) will kick-start from Tuesday and market participants expect that bank\u2019s chairman; Ben Bernanke will offer dovish forward looking guidance.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank of England (BOE) and the European Central Bank (ECB) are also likely to continue with low <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/bonds\/today.aspx\">interest rates<\/a> as both banks try to shore up the two economies.<\/p>\n<p>An environment of accommodating monetary policy tends to support gold prices as it stokes inflationary concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Bullion, according to Jason Rotman, president of Lido Isle Advisors in Newport Beach, California, has found a strong support at $1,315 an ounce level; however he believes that any further gains are likely to remain capped as eventually the Fed could start tapering its quantitative easing.<\/p>\n<p>Rotman thinks that $1,393 an ounce level mark could be the \u201cceiling for gold\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the U.S. economic indicators have been also showing marked improvement, especially the job data which could support the case for early winding down of the quantitative easing and put lid on gold\u2019s gains.<\/p>\n<p>In a note to investors, Barclays wrote, \u201cPrices are unlikely to maintain their upward momentum in the seasonally weak period for demand unless U.S. macro data deteriorate, driving further short covering-led support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"nr_popular_placeholder\" data-permalink=\"http:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-futures-edge-higher-silver-prices-slip\/46261\" data-title=\"Gold Futures Edge Higher;
