{"id":46579,"date":"2013-08-13T08:13:00","date_gmt":"2013-08-13T08:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-prices-down-silver-prices-gain\/46578\/"},"modified":"2013-08-13T08:13:00","modified_gmt":"2013-08-13T08:13:00","slug":"gold-prices-down-silver-prices-gain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-prices-down-silver-prices-gain\/46579\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold Prices Down, Silver Prices Gain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">Gold prices<\/a> slipped during Asian trading hours on Tuesday but continued to hover near three-week high level as pause in unprecedented outflows from gold backed exchange traded funds and improving demand for both the metal and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"silver price today\">silver<\/a> in China supported the sentiment. <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">Silver prices<\/a>, meanwhile, edged higher in early trading on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-46579\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At last check, gold futures for December delivery fell 0.50% to $1,327.50 an ounce while spot gold edged down 0.67% to $1,326.79 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>Bullion prices rallied on Monday reaching its three-week high level after news emerged that the holdings of the SPDR Gold Trust rose for the first time in last two months on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>All the top gold backed exchange traded funds have reported continued outflows all through this year as investors left the bullion market in hordes fearing imminent tapering of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a>\u2019s quantitative easing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sentiment in gold has definitely improved recently,&#8221; said Danny Laidler, head of ETF Securities&#8217; Australia and New Zealand business,\u201d according to Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe massive redemptions we saw in April have reduced every month. Hopefully the large outflows have stopped,\u201d added Laidler.<\/p>\n<p>Traders said that short coverings on Monday also helped the metal to extend gains.
