{"id":46664,"date":"2013-08-16T07:58:00","date_gmt":"2013-08-16T07:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-dollar-recovers-as-yields-on-treasuries-soar\/46663\/"},"modified":"2013-08-16T07:58:00","modified_gmt":"2013-08-16T07:58:00","slug":"forex-market-update-dollar-recovers-as-yields-on-treasuries-soar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-dollar-recovers-as-yields-on-treasuries-soar\/46664\/","title":{"rendered":"Forex Market Update: Dollar Recovers As Yields On Treasuries Soar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. dollar gained traction against a basket of rival currencies on Friday after a tumultuous trading session on Thursday; however, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/currency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">currency<\/a> will remain vulnerable as concerns over when the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> would start to scale down its quantitative easing, still linger.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-46664\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The dollar index, a measure on U.S. unit\u2019s performance against a basket of six major currencies, inched up 0.08% to 81.24.<\/p>\n<p>Traders said that soaring yields on 10-year treasuries supported the demand for dollars.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. dollar, which turned broadly higher on Thursday after the Labor Department said that weekly jobless claims were at its lowest level in almost last six years, slumped after several economic data releases pointed towards economic slowdown.<\/p>\n<p>While industrial output remained flat in July, manufacturing activities in the New York State and factory activities in the mid-Atlantic region contracted sharply in August.<\/p>\n<p>A set of mixed economic data on Thursday weighed on the U.S. unit as investors remained clueless over the pullback of the bond purchase program.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a tough market for speculators.
