{"id":47061,"date":"2013-09-05T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-09-05T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-dollar-index-climbs-sharply-after-job-data\/47052\/"},"modified":"2013-09-05T10:00:00","modified_gmt":"2013-09-05T10:00:00","slug":"forex-market-update-dollar-index-climbs-sharply-after-job-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/forex-market-update-dollar-index-climbs-sharply-after-job-data\/47061\/","title":{"rendered":"Forex Market Update: Dollar Index Climbs Sharply After Job Data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>The dollar index rose sharply on Thursday after two U.S. job data releases reemphasized the fact that the labor market was significantly improving, fanning speculation that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> could now soon end its economic stimulating measures.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-47061\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The DXY Dollar Index, a gauge on U.S. unit\u2019s performance against a basket of six rival currencies, rose 0.40% 82.49.<\/p>\n<p>The WSJ$ Index, which uses slightly boarder indexing criteria, edged up 0.25% to 74.53.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the euro fell sharply against the dollar after the European Central Bank, as expected, kept its monetary policy unchanged.<\/p>\n<p>The euro was last down 0.38% against the dollar to trade at $1.3156.<\/p>\n<p>The Labor Department said that weekly first-time jobless claims fell further by 9,000 to seasonally adjusted 323,000 while the four-week moving average for first time claims stood at pre-recession level.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, the Automatic Data Processing (ADP) said that the U.S. private sector added 176,000 new jobs in August, which was slightly below economists\u2019 expectation.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Wednesday, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a>\u2019s Beige Book, a comprehensive region-by-region coverage on state of the economic health, showed that the U.S. economy picked up some momentum in the second quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Now the entire spotlight will shift to Friday\u2019s non-farm payrolls report. If the report shows strong numbers the dollar is likely to climb even higher.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the number is around 200,000 the dollar will go higher.
