{"id":47120,"date":"2013-09-09T08:11:00","date_gmt":"2013-09-09T08:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-prices-ease-slightly-silver-prices-slip-as-well\/47113\/"},"modified":"2013-09-09T08:11:00","modified_gmt":"2013-09-09T08:11:00","slug":"gold-prices-ease-slightly-silver-prices-slip-as-well","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-prices-ease-slightly-silver-prices-slip-as-well\/47120\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold Prices Ease Slightly, Silver Prices Slip As Well"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>In spite of broadly weaker U.S. dollar, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">gold prices<\/a> remained almost flat during Asian trading hours on Monday after jumping nearly 2% on Friday; however, the metal can test $1,400 an ounce level in coming days even as opinion remains divided on whether the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">Silver prices<\/a> have also edged lower in early trading on Monday.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-47120\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At last check, gold futures for December delivery were mainly flat at $1,386.40 an ounce while spot gold eased 0.30% to $1,386.66 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Friday, bullion and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"silver price today\">silver<\/a> prices staged a strong comeback after the Labor Department\u2019s monthly non-farm payrolls report showed that employers added less-than-expected jobs in August.<\/p>\n<p>Besides, June and July\u2019s net payroll additions were downwardly revised by combined 74,000. The data fuelled speculation that the Fed might wait a bit longer before it decides to pull the plug on quantitative easing (QE).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis confusion (diverging views on QE tapering) will likely prevent gold from weakening substantially over the course of this week, but we suspect that the selling should intensify after the Fed meeting is out of the way and assuming we do indeed get a modest amount of tapering,\u201d said Edward Meir, an analyst at INTL FC Stone, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>However, improving physical side demand from Asia could push up the metal prices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe still see that gold should probably test $1, 400,\u201d said Brian Lan, managing director of GoldSilver Central Pte Ltd in Singapore, according to Reuters.
