(<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=UNFI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: UNFI<\/a>) said last evening that fiscal fourth quarter net income rose 28%, driven by wider margins and higher sales. Shares gained in aftermarket hours as both revenue and earnings were better-than-expected.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-47224\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>For the latest period, the company reported a profit of $32 million or 65 cents a share compared to a net income of $25 million or 51 cents a share, in the year-earlier quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters had forecasted earnings of 60 cents a share. Analysts\u2019 forecast typically excludes onetime items.<\/p>\n<p>Sales in the latest quarter rose to $1.64 billion from $1.34 billion, in the same period of last year.
