{"id":47345,"date":"2013-09-19T14:31:00","date_gmt":"2013-09-19T14:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-prices-catapult-as-fed-opts-to-not-taper-qe3-siler-prices-also-surge\/47338\/"},"modified":"2013-09-19T14:31:00","modified_gmt":"2013-09-19T14:31:00","slug":"gold-prices-catapult-as-fed-opts-to-not-taper-qe3-siler-prices-also-surge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-prices-catapult-as-fed-opts-to-not-taper-qe3-siler-prices-also-surge\/47345\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold Prices Catapult As Fed Opts To Not Taper QE3; Siler Prices Also Surge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">Gold prices<\/a> clocked sharp gains on Thursday as the demand for non-interest bearing assets swelled after the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> staggered global investors by not announcing any immediate pullback of its economic stimulating measures. <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"silver price today\">Silver<\/a> prices also surged in trading on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-47345\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At last check, gold futures for December delivery climbed 4.60% to $1,367.60 an ounce while spot gold was trading at $1,366.74 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>Gold logged its biggest session gain on Thursday since June 2012.<\/p>\n<p>SPDR Gold Trust (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=GLD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: GLD<\/a>) inched down 0.08% to $132.05.<\/p>\n<p>It was widely expected that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> would eventually decide to scale down its bond purchase program by $10 billion from September; however, the bank\u2019s Chairman, Ben Bernanke following the FOMC said that the program (bond buying) is \u201cnot a on a preset course\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting over the Fed\u2019s decision to maintain its economic stimulating measures and its effect on bullion prices, Afshin Nabavi, head of trading at MKS, said\u00a0 \u201cThe market is still digesting the surprise news,\u2026 I personally think the numbers we are seeing out of the States are still poor, and QE may remain in place for a bit longer.
