{"id":47373,"date":"2013-09-20T13:18:00","date_gmt":"2013-09-20T13:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/bullards-remarks-rattle-bullion-investors-gold-prices-plunge-more-than-2-silver-prices-down-about-5\/47367\/"},"modified":"2013-09-20T13:18:00","modified_gmt":"2013-09-20T13:18:00","slug":"bullards-remarks-rattle-bullion-investors-gold-prices-plunge-more-than-2-silver-prices-down-about-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/bullards-remarks-rattle-bullion-investors-gold-prices-plunge-more-than-2-silver-prices-down-about-5\/47373\/","title":{"rendered":"Bullard\u2019s Remarks Rattle Bullion Investors; Gold Prices Plunge More Than 2%, Silver Prices Down About 5%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">Gold prices<\/a> once again headed southwards after James Bullard dropped a bombshell by saying that the <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">Silver prices<\/a> also plunged in trading on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-47373\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At last check, gold futures for December delivery plunged 2.69% to $1,332.40 an ounce while spot gold fell 2.29% to $1,333.11 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>SPDR Gold Trust (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=GLD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: GLD<\/a>) was last down 2.28% to $128.76.<\/p>\n<p>Bullion, which was heading towards posting its best weekly performance in last five weeks, pared most of its weekly gains after St. Louis Fed President James Bullard said that the Fed policymakers had a very close call in deciding not to start winding down of asset purchases from September.<\/p>\n<p>Bullard, who is a key voting member in FOMC and ardent backer of ongoing economic stimulating measures, said that the tapering of quantitative easing could be a mild one, if it is started.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Fed\u2019s Chairman, Ben Bernanke had surprised global investors by not announcing pullback of stimulating measures.
