The <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/sp500\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"snp500 today\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> also ended lower for the week.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-47545\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\">Dow Jones<\/a> ended the day 0.46% lower at 15,258.24, the S&amp;P 500 ended the day 0.41% lower at 1,691.75, and the Nasdaq ended the day 0.15% lower at 3,781.59. For the week, the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/dowjones\/today.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Dow Jones Today\">Dow Jones<\/a> fell 1.25%, the S&amp;P 500 fell 1.06%, and the Nasdaq gained 0.18%.<\/p>\n<p>Among the major movers on Friday included Cerner Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=CERN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: CERN<\/a>), which ended the day 7.96% higher at $52.61, JC Penney Company Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=JCP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: JCP<\/a>), which ended the day 13.15% lower at $9.05, Nike Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=NKE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: NKE<\/a>), which ended the day 4.69% higher at $73.64, United Continental Holdings Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=UAL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: UAL<\/a>), which ended the day 9.28% lower at $30.91, and Microsoft Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=MSFT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: MSFT<\/a>), which ended the day 1.59% higher at $33.29.<\/p>\n<p>On the economic front, a report released by the Commerce Department showed consumer spending rose 0.3% in August. Meanwhile, the final reading on the Thomson Reuters\/University of Michigan consumer sentiment index for September came in at 77.5, compared to economists\u2019 forecast of 78.<\/p>\n<p>European markets ended mostly lower on Friday, with the FTSE 100 Index in London closing 0.81% lower, and the CAC 40 Index in Paris closing flat at 4,186.77.
