(<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=AMZN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: AMZN<\/a>) climbed about 5.80% on Friday after UBS upgraded the Kindle maker\u2019s stock to a \u201cbuy\u201d from a \u201cneutral\u201d and raised the price target to $385 from $305.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-48008\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>UBS analyst Eric Sheridan said in research note that the Company\u2019s recent decision to hire 70,000 seasonal employees in the holiday season quarter reflects its bullishness over the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the analyst also highlighted Amazon\u2019s \u201cunderappreciated advertising business\u201d, growing traction of its Kindle ecosystem (convergence of hardware and software).<\/p>\n<p>Sheridan expects the Company to post fiscal third quarter results in-line with expectations. Amazon is slated to report third quarter results on Thursday, after the market close.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmazon and Google (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/nasdaq\/today.aspx\">NASDAQ<\/a>: GOOG) should benefit from the convergence of hardware and software in the intermediate term,\u201d said Sheridan in a research note.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIncreasingly, we believe that the importance of having consumers living in an ecosystem will move to the forefront for companies such as Amazon and Google,\u201d added the analyst.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, Sheridan believes that the near-term outlook for online marketplace stocks such as eBay, including AMZN, might be \u201cvolatile\u201d due to the falling consumer sentiment caused by the government shutdown. Earlier this week, eBay handed weaker-than-expected earnings and revenue outlook for the fiscal fourth quarter.
